OFF TO A GREAT START!!!
A bit of a re-cap of opening days - June 27 and 28 were fabulous. The combination of veteran and new campers coming together made for some noble and fantastic exchanges among peers - empathy, instruction, support and encouragement, and an overarching sharing of attentions as to how best to contribute to the common good. Skills and attitude matter, and campers and staff gathered to teach and learn from each other on both fronts before committing to the exercise of canoe tripping. I’m not sure I have ever seen such a respectful camper crew – thank-yous abounded, cheers for other sections eclipsed those for their own – it was awesome! The Long Trippers devoted June 28th to readying for the next day’s departure while younger sections spent the day interspersing ping-pong matches, swimming, and just chatting with trip preparations.
