Legendary Map Maker at Wabun

Dick and Craig
Craig Macdonald is an ethno-geographer, Cree-Ojibway place-name linguist, and trails expert who spent 27 years doing research in the Temagami area.  He gave a presentation last weekend at Bear Island about his map and specifically the authentication of the photographs used. The Temagami Community Foundation sponsored the event and Chief Roxane Potts-Ayotte introduced Craig.
Marg and Craig

During his visit to Temagami, Craig was a guest of Dick and Marg at Wabun. He was delighted to see the canoe that was built in the shop at Wabun in 2010 and is described in the Wabun newsletter. He recalled similar scale canoes built in the area at the turn of the last century that were used for travel and trade.

If you are interested in one of Craig's historic maps, Marg and Dick have several copies and would be happy to distribute them. Please email Marg at mrl@wabun.com.
