July 10 - A & B section updates & new photos

A new round of photos has been posted on Picasa - Cayuga B and Wabun B - see Picasa link to the right of this posting.

Cayuga B headed out on their Coulonge trip this morning - high spirits, fabulous weather and clearly ready and enthused.  Wabun B will depart for their Dumoine trip after breakfast tomorrow morning.  The two sections will follow pretty much the same route for the first couple of weeks and then part ways to visit their respective rivers.

Here's some recent news from two of our three Long-Trip Sections:

Wabun A
Pete Gwyn called camp for a scheduled check in from the community of Round Lake this weekend (Round Lake is also known as Weagamow Lake). He reports the boys had a chance to visit the Northern Store there and get some treats and that so far, they are enjoying excellent fishing.  The Windigo River was at the perfect water level to refresh the section's whitewater skills and the group is moving well together.  They have also enjoyed the sunny days and are eager to make their way down the North Caribou River over to North Caribou Lake.

Cayuga A-M
Elisa Morris called camp for a scheduled check in from the community of Cat Lake yesterday.   She reported the group was great, and that they had seen lots of osprey and eagles and even a black bear on shore!  The water was high on the Cat River which provided an excellent whitewater refresher and they were fortunate to have calm winds for their paddle down Lake St. Joseph.  They are headed to the headwaters of the Otoskowin River and are excited about traveling downstream.  She sends good wishes from all the girls and says they are tan and fit.
