Ending January - -

Just received photos from Mel and Jason Ball - Bear Island friends who look after Wabun during the winter months. They report sloppy traveling on the lake - sloppy, but picturesque nonetheless -

Travel seems to be ok by snowmobile, but at last report there was a lot of slush and no cars on the ice.

Marg and I are heading for Temagami in early March - will host the last of this year's reunions there on Saturday, March 24th - open invitation!

Enjoyed two great gatherings last weekend - one in DC/Bethesda with the Longsworths - treated to a Wabun-red cake fashioned by M.T. Snyder

After last Saturday's get-together in Maryland, it was off to the Hartzells' in the Philadelphia area - there, another great crowd gathered to reminisce and feast on a trip meal of corn chowder and blueberry bannock - lovingly prepared by Andy Hartzell. Both the Longsworths in DC and the Hartzells in Philly are three-generation Wabun families - stories covered Wabun tripping from the 1940s to last summer.

I wish I could join you on Garden Island in March. It is so spectacular that time of year! Have a ski around the island for me.
