March on Temagami

The ice road from Bear Isl;and to Wabun

the Wabun Dock in winter form

Been on Temagami for one week now - Marg arrived last Friday - weather has been absolutely gorgeous - below zero each night keeps the ice travel-worthy, and daytime temp's in the 20s make for pleasant outings.

Exercising caution, my first trip to the island was by snowmachine - 2 trips got everything to the cabin.  When Marg arrived, we moved the jeep over. Then, the parking lot expanded to welcome visitors -

Pleasant winter cross-island route
The best way to get onto the island is on the south side near the staff shower house - then across the ballfield to the lodge and kitchen area.

Once there the views in all directions are magnificent - the snow loads are impressive and the winds are most impressive.
mounds and mounds adorn the roofs
Dover Rest (our cabin) is about a snug as you might hope from a wilderness retreat - fire goes 24/7.

Enjoyed a nice gathering of the Wabun choir on Saturday - great fun!

Reminds me of the year we spent spring break (March) on the island, working on the dock and other camp improvement projects...great fun, stunningly gorgeous totally white version of the Lake/terrain I thought I knew so well...Enjoy your time up there and be safe on that ice!???
